FYI - Andy Barnes wrote:
Hello once again folks!
News is coming "thick and fast" at the moment - I hope you don’t mind me emailing you again in such a short space of time but many of you will want to know that long standing Zombies touring band guitarist Keith Airey will not be appearing in the up and coming live shows and has in fact decided to leave the band.
Keith has many other musical commitments (such as being the main guitarist for the Mamma Mia! Stage show) and is also putting together a solo album which will require his time and efforts.
We would like to wish Keith all the very best for the future – I know you fellow fans will join me in thanking him for being such a great player to watch and listen to on stage over the years – he is truly a talented musician and a great character; it has been wonderful to have him as part of the Zombies Touring Band for so long, but of course we understand that he has other projects he now wants to pursue.
Hopefully our paths will cross “down the line” somewhere, sometime............
Colin and Rod will shortly be announcing a new guitarist for the touring band – I'll keep you informed as soon as I know anything.
On a different subject, Colin has asked me to mention that he does not run his own page on MySpace, Facebook or any other "social networking" web site.
Anyone purporting to be Colin on one of these sites is NOT the Colin Blunstone we know and love!
Any genuine news, information or announcements from Colin himself will come via his own Web Site (http://www.colinblunstone.co.uk) or via my fan email-shots.
Best Wishes
Andy

I just wish they'd come back to Texas, i.e., Austin. I have a friend who missed out last time and he MUST see it! Besides, they "promised" they'd come back. :o)

Just got back from the three concerts in California! They were all awesome - everyone looked and sounded great - though the show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles (June 27) was the highlight for me because I had a front row seat, plus I spent just about the entirety of the Zombies' set standing/dancing right in front of the stage...XD
I was only able to bring my camera in to the show in Yountville (June 28), and I posted several photos from that show in the concert photos album. Here are my videos, which I will add to the video page when I'm more awake -

Anyone here going to any of the Zombies/Yardbirds/Spencer Davis Group concerts? I splurged and got myself tickets for all three in California next week (although unfortunately I'm going by myself, which is never as much fun...husband's busy, local friends aren't interested...*sniffle*). I'd love to meet up with other fans...
I'm going to try to bring my camera (and hopefully I won't have to put it away halfway through the shows like I did in London!).

Rod wrote this on their myspace on the 12th:
"Hey last night we were awarded the Classic Album award at the Mojo Magazine Award.
This was for Odessey & Oracle and all four of us original members collected the award from Super Furry Animals singer/guitarist Gruff Rhys who presented it to us.
Attendees at the awards included Manic St Preachers, Jeff Beck, Fleet Foxes, Elbow, Paul Weller Mott The Hoople, Pulp, ZZ Top, Yoko Ono, William Bell, Seasick Steve, Jeff Beck, Joe Elliott, Chris Blackwell, Richard Hawley, and many more…..
I'm thrilled that we've received this award. It's so gratifying that 42 years after we made the album it should still seem so relevant to so many contemporary artists. Just at the ceremony, Paul Weller commented that O & O was his favourite album, and the Fleet Foxes said to us how inspirational they had found it.
Rod Argent"
so awesome that they're getting some more recognition for O&O, and I got so excited when he mentioned Fleet Foxes because I adore them (check them out if you haven't, such a great band). there's also some good images on gettyimages.com from the event.

I'm heading to the airport tomorrow morning!!!!!!
I'm hoping I can bring my camera to the show, and if I can, I'll be sure to post photos and videos! Since I have a front/center seat, I'll have a great vantage point for photos, but I don't know whether I'll be allowed to bring it in, though...*crosses fingers, toes, eyes, etc.*

"they've always dressed so nicely, i wish guys would still dress like them." Yeah, I'm always trying to get my husband to wear sweaters because I think guys look sexy in them...but he refuses to wear anything other than t-shirts and jeans. Even when it's cold out. Meh...*lol*

My hobby is drawing, and a couple of months ago I worked on a portrait of Colin (based on a '70s promo photo that I particularly like), and had more or less finished it, except that I'm not completely happy with the likeness. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, so I thought I'd ask here - if I post the drawing, would anyone here be willing to critique it? I've put it aside for weeks now, but I feel like I've put too much effort into it to just give up on it... :P

I believe he really did. I had added hand shading to one of them and put it in a cheap Target frame because I figured it would end up in the trash. LOL I also gave him the flowers, which goes to show how silly I am. But that's me. :o) http://rogersgardengate.com/extimages/p_kathyroger.jpg

I would tend to agree with you. I really liked the 2nd half of the cd in its "stripped down" form with strings. Very nice overall, though! His voice just gets better with time, amazingly enough.
I also found it interesting that he did "Second Avenue," which I have always loved by Art Garfunkel. Different but nice!
Of course, Colin could sing the phone book and I'd probably be just fine with that. LOL
